Female financial advisors – sometimes a woman’s understanding is important
There are some amazing advisers out there, both male and female financial planners. I know this because some of them are my friends and trusted colleagues.
The advice we financial advisers give is diverse. And in some areas, to get a result in your best interests we need to delve into areas and details that could potentially be a bit personal. Really you might be thinking? Don’t you just work with numbers?
Let me give you an example. One of the areas I specialise in is personal insurance coverage for women and young families. As part of this, we might need to chat about any existing conditions you have. Some pre-existing or past conditions I come across regularly are post-natal depression, anxiety and breast lumps. These things can be quite personal! So understandably, you may not ordinarily be comfortable talking about them.
That’s why it’s really important to choose an adviser that you relate to and feel comfortable with. And that adviser may just be a female financial adviser or female financial planner. There are some things that can be easier to discuss with another woman, and there are other things that we may have both experienced. If you’re talking to me you can rest assured that you will be treated with respect and our conversations about your situation will be understanding, non-judgemental, open, honest, respectful and kind.
And a few things our conversations won’t include? I can guarantee that I won’t call you “love” or refer to you as a “girl”. And I definitely won’t increase the price at the end of the process without warning AND ask you out - in the same sentence* (what was he thinking?! *facepalm*)
With understanding and kindness,
